Comprehensive Organic Gardener Program

An intensive multi-session program teaching organic vegetable gardening methods and practice.

The COG Program is an intensive program teaching organic vegetable gardening methods and practice. The curriculum merges scientific and practical information with an emphasis on experiential learning and hands-on practice. This unique and popular course is designed to give the beginning gardener an introduction into the dynamic world of organic gardening and an opportunity to get their hands dirty in the process! Students can expect to learn all of the basic concepts involved in organic food gardening including building healthy soil, garden planning and crop rotation, planting techniques, season extension and other methods for gardening year round, organic pest and disease control, water conservation and seed saving.  By the end of class participants should be ready to install and plant a veggie garden!

The class includes evening lectures on Thursdays, 9/25 - 10/16, from 7 pm to 9 pm at the Good Shepherd Center in Wallingford. Students also register for weekend hands-on classes at one of two sites:

Good Shepherd Center in Wallingford on Saturdays, 9/27 - 10/11, from 10am to 3pm

OR

Bradner Gardens Park in the Mt. Baker neighborhood on Sundays, 9/28 - 10/12, from 10am - 3pm

When registering, please specify if you would like the Good Shepherd or Bradner location for the weekend hands-on classes.  Students must choose one or the other and cannot switch between sites or dates for any reason.  Each hands-on class is limited to 22 participants.

This class fills quickly, so register early.  To register, please download the Registration Form and mail it in with your payment.
