Stormwater runoff associated with increased development is one of the biggest threats to Puget Sound water quality. It may result in flooding, scouring of streams, and increased pollution entering our waterways. Rain gardens, planted depressions that are strategically placed to capture rainwater and slowly filter it into the ground, provide an easy way to reduce these impacts. When planted with the right types of plants, rain gardens also attract birds, butterflies and bees.
