Other Great Community Events

If you are interested in Seattle Tilth, you may also be interested in these other great community events.

"Take the Pledge" to Eat Local for Thanksgiving! and invite our friends, family, colleagues and acquaintances to do the same. "It's simple, affordable and delicious!" Visit: www.pugetsoundfresh.org/eatlocal

Delicious? There is no argument about the flavor of a ripe, farm fresh apple, a fresh baked winter squash, or a slice of rich artisan cheese.

Simple? Several area farmers markets www.pugetsoundfresh.org/eatlocal/where-to-buy-local.htm are open year round now, many of our Puget Sound grocery stores offer a nice array of local products, and Community Supported Agriculture has grown in popularity.

But affordable? Yes! Informal research compared prices of certain products at their local farmers markets to those at an area grocery store. One found organic acorn and butternut squash to be more affordable by 79-cents a pound at the market than at the grocery store. And organic Gala apples bought directly from the farmer were more affordable by $1.29 a pound from their supermarket counterparts!

 ● Support our local farms, which increases local jobs and strengthens the rural areas of Washington

 ● Reduce our dependence on food grown far away

 ● Keep our locally earned dollars circulating in our local economy

 ● Strengthen our local food system so we have healthy, safe and delicious food that supports our families and our environment.

Pledge by Friday, November 21, to qualify to win a heritage turkey or a year of Organic Valley products.
