Get ready for spring gardening!

Come out to this festive spring gardener gathering and find a huge selection of edible plant starts perfect for spring planting on Saturday, March 12, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and admission is free! This event is generously sponsored by PCC Natural Markets.

Thanks to the rain, it's muddy -- be sure to wear boots!

Choose from a wide selection of organically, sustainably and locally grown veggies, herbs, edible flowers, fruit shrubs, fruit trees, seeds, supplies and knowledge galore --  perfect for planting in March. You will find:

  • Easy-to-grow plants for beginners such as lettuce, greens and peas.

  • Favorites such as collards, kale, Swiss chard, asparagus and strawberries.

  • Exotic, rare and heirloom plants that will excite more experienced gardeners including asparagus, horseradish, artichokes, onions, and broccoli.

  • Irresistible highlights for foodies include edible flowers, bulbing fennel, Romanesco broccoli and culinary herbs.

  • Fruiting shrubs and fruit bearing trees available from Burnt Ridge Nursery.

  • Pollinator plants to support ecosystem and agriculture health

Early Bird Sale: Friday, March 11

For people who want to shop early with limited crowds, come to the Early Bird Sale  on Friday, March 11, from 5-6:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 as a special fundraiser to benefit Seattle Tilth's educational programs. People who volunteer for this event get in for free.

See what plants we are selling so you can plan your shopping list. Most veggies are $3, herbs and flowers $4; specialty veggies and lavender $5; tree and shrub prices vary.


Participating is fun! Volunteers will be invited to the Early Bird Sale for early shopping on March 12 from 5-6:30 p.m. Help sell plants, help shoppers, load compost, checkout, and much more.

Location, Directions & Parking

The sale is at Rainier Beach Urban Farm & Wetlands, but there is NO PARKING at the farm, unless you need handicap access.

PARKING is at Beer Sheva Park (8650 55th Ave S) or
at Rainier Beach High School (8815 S Seward Park Ave) -- walk in through Beer Sheva Park (about .5 miles). Thanks to the rain, it's muddy -- be sure to wear boots!

HANDICAP ACCESS -- drive into the farm (5513 S Cloverdale St, Seattle).

Our March Edible Plant Sale specializes in early spring plants perfect for putting in the ground in March. Be sure to also attend our May Edible Plant Sale on April 30-May 1 - it's the largest in the region and features an astounding variety of summer crops. Thank you!
