Tilth Alliance Communications Support

Brief Description

Assist with marketing activities at Tilth Alliance to promote our programs, activities and events. Duties might include updating online media, proofreading, writing, simple graphic design, photography and other mass communications.

Details

Time Commitment: 10-12 hours per week for three months. Larger commitments can be arranged.

Compensation: This is an unpaid volunteer position, but can be done for school credit at some institutions.

Work Site: Work takes place at our office in Suite 100 of the Good Shepherd Center at 4649 Sunnyside Ave. N., Seattle, WA 98103.

Supervisor: Liza Burke, Communications Director.

Training Requirements: Attend a Tilth Alliance volunteer orientation. Receive training before working independently on projects.

Responsibilities:

Duties might include:

  • Update web pages.
  • Assist in proofreading and writing text for mass communications.
  • Write and compile material for our digital and print communications.
  • Post our classes and events on other organizations’ community events calendars.
  • Write, edit, prepare or organize material for our blog.
  • Create or layout fliers and print materials.
  • Post updates on Facebook and other social media.
  • Organize files and photos.
  • Communicate with media contacts as directed.
  • Assist with organization and execution of Tilth Alliance special events.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Proficiency using email, the internet and Microsoft applications.
  • Ability to follow direction, be self-directed and also work well as a member of a team.
  • Graphic design skill using graphic design programs a plus.
  • Enthusiasm for the mission of Tilth Alliance.
  • A strong interest in nonprofit work and community service.
  • Available weekdays between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. and some Saturdays for special events if available.
