Volunteer Opportunities

Get involved, meet people, and learn new skills as a volunteer

Volunteers are essential to the success of Seattle Tilth!
Build professional and personal skills, meet people and contribute to the community while volunteering at Seattle Tilth.  Interested?  Follow these steps:

    1. Please complete a required Volunteer/Intern Registration Form.
    2. Next, attend a required Volunteer Orientation.


        • May Edible Plant Sale
          Sat. and Sun., May 2 and 3, 9 a.m.-3 p.m
          Volunteers are needed to help prep plants, set-up, check-out, cashier, tear-down and much more. SIGN UP NOW!

Volunteer by Interest

        • Community Kitchens Northwest (CKNW)
          Help bring people together to cook and eat as a community. Participate in community dinners, lead after school cooking clubs, and assist with trainings for community partners. By sharing cooking skills, nutrition knowledge and food traditions, CKNW gives people the tools they need to eat well every day. For more information contact

        • Nutrition Educator/ Culinary Educator
          Facilitate nutrition and culinary activities with Seattle Youth Garden Works program participants in a fun and interactive environment as part of a 10 week summer program. Contact for more info.    

        • Good Food Bag Delivery
          Help distribute Good Food Bags to families at Lake Washington Apartments in Rainier Beach! Manage the table where members come to pick up their bags of fresh, local, organic produce and sell extra bags to community members. Contact

        • Wetland Steward
          Help restore the wetlands at the Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands! Receive free training and support environmental stewardship and learning activities related to watershed ecology and conservation. For more information contact
        • Veggie Crews: April-October
          Each year garden volunteers grow hundreds of pounds of organic produce that we donate to local food banks, support our education program, and sustainably maintain our community learning gardens in North and South Seattle. 
          • Drop-in Work Parties

            Learn about organic food growing techniques while maintaining our farms and gardens.  Work parties happen weekly in Wallingford and SE Seattle .

          • Garden Steward
            Learn about sustainable landscape management and organic food gardening while practicing leadership skills in one or more of Seattle Tilth's gardens. Positions available at Bradner Gardens Park and the Good Shepherd Center

          • Children's Garden Volunteer Naturalists
            Lead kids on Earth Steward sensory tours of the Children's Garden during weekdays, working with school groups and field trips in the garden. Learn about organic gardening and teaching while having loads of fun! 
          • Street Promotions Team
            Help distribute postcards and posters for our events! Pick an area of your choice and ask permission from businesses. Visit libraries, rec centers, coffee shops, bars etc. Contact
          • Graphic Design/Writing/Communications Support
            Assist with marketing activities at Seattle Tilth to promote our programs, activities and events in the greater Seattle area. Duties might include updating online media, proofreading, writing, simple graphic design, photography and other mass communications. Contact
          • Auction Procurement and Office Support Volunteer
            Provide support to Seattle Tilth’s events team by helping to procure donated items from businesses that will generate BIG dollars at our annual fundraising event. Great opportunity for someone hoping to gain development, auction, or event experience! Contact
          • Driving Instructor for Seattle Youth Garden Works
            Help youth program assistant staff learn how to drive. Many of the youth in our program are in need of a driver’s license in order take to meet their personal professional and financial goals. They are lacking of adult allies with access to vehicles who can help them to learn to drive and to gain the confidence they need to take and pass the driver’s license test. Must have own vehicle and vehicle insurance. Scheduling is flexible, and to be arranged between adult ally and youth program assistant. Driving practice will be based out of the Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands (SE Seattle). Contact
