Farm-to-Table Volunteer Opportunities
Excited about children, teaching, cooking or nutrition? How about all four? Volunteering at mobile kitchens, staff trainings and family workshops involves helping to prepare, facilitate, and clean up kid-friendly cooking activities with preschool-age students, teachers and/or families. We present simple nutrition messages in an interactive, nonjudgmental way.
Excited about children, teaching, cooking or nutrition? How about all four? Tilth Alliance's Farm to Table preschool program works with low-income preschools to provide hands-on cooking and nutrition education to children, teachers/staff, and parents. Students increase reverence for their food and health by preparing and eating foods in a fun and delicious way.
Interested?
We began the school year with an orientation for new volunteers, and will host another in winter 2017. These interactive workshops familiarize volunteers with what farm-to-table events look like and what their roles will be, give tips for cooking with children, explore the messages we send about nutrition, and delve into concepts around food culture.
If you'd like to receive an announcement about this event as it comes nearer, or if you'd like to sign up for a shift, but have not yet attended an orientation, please contact Sarah Alper at sarahalper@tilthalliance.org or 206-633-0451 ext. 138.
