Garden Educator Workshops
Our Garden Educator Workshops are designed for classroom teachers, parents, community members and anyone interested in using the garden as a teaching environment. Everyone is encouraged to engage in these lively discussions and sessions!
For people who aren’t classroom teachers, you can use Next Generation Science Standards to apply science learning in the garden and other outdoor spaces with students from preschool through high school.
Teachers receive clock hours in these fun and rewarding workshops.
What You'll Learn
Through outdoor, hands-on activities, you'll learn the important components needed for a sustainable garden program, including: organic gardening techniques, garden design, curriculum connections, the role of a garden coordinator and garden activities that engage a variety of ages. You’ll experience these lessons as a student and learn some outdoor classroom management techniques.
You'll also learn how to develop an effective garden lesson for any subject. The garden provides an opportunity for students and teachers to engage in meaningful connections, and we’ll explore how the Next Generation Science Standards expands these activities. Tilth Alliance and the University of Washington’s College of Education have been working together since 2014 to bring all of these exciting ideas together.
Leave inspired and prepared to launch a dynamic and engaging garden program for your school, church, child-care facility or community center, or learn new techniques to apply to an established program. Treat yourself to a learning opportunity!
