Visit a Farm

There are many opportunities for you and your family to visit farms in King County and elsewhere in the state.

You can work side by side with the farmer in Cascade Harvest Coalition’s program called Northwest Farming for Humanity, which organizes exchanges of farm labor for farm produce between community volunteer groups and local farms. Held on farms throughout King, Pierce, and Snohomish County, the four-hour programs are scheduled mainly on Saturdays but some weekdays are available. There is no charge for these programs, which are geared to getting freshly harvested produce directly to food banks.

WSU King County Extension’s Harvest Celebration Farm Tour, scheduled in September. Over 20 farms participate in the tour and roughly 8,000 people turn out to farms for the day, enjoying cooking demonstrations and performances at this free event.

In partnership with the WSU Small Farms Program, the Tilth Producers of Washington schedules Farm Walks throughout the summer. The four-hour programs focus on a particular topic. Designed for growers, these programs welcome anyone interested person to attend, with a charge of $15 per program.
