  • WSDA Organic Program is looking forward to assisting organic farmers in new ways this year.  Focus areas include defining and promoting better understanding of “certified organic” at farmers markets, helping growers understand how FSMA affects their organic farms, and translating our forms and fact sheets into Spanish.  Get the lowdown on new organic resources for 2019 and beyond!

  • Do you find yourself worrying about your upcoming organic inspection because your records aren’t organized? Thinking about transitioning to organic but feeling apprehensive due to all the paperwork? The aim of this session is to help producers understand what records are required to apply for organic certification, and to share “sound and sensible” record keeping practices that producers can implement in order to demonstrate compliance to inspectors and certifiers.

  • Heard about FSMA but still wondering what it means for your farm? Not sure what the difference is between having a food safety plan, going through an audit or having an inspection? Want suggestions on dealing with a pesky food safety issue from your operation? This panel of regional food safety experts will take questions from participants about the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Produce Safety Rule and food safety in general. Panelists represent a variety of backgrounds: regulator, educator and farm organization. Participants are encouraged to come prepared with questions on issues related to requirements, compliance, enforcement, and best practices.
