Project: Seattle Tilth Children’s Garden Education Guide and Volunteer Training Manual

Description: Interested in education? Gardening? Graphic design and layout? Seattle Tilth’s Children’s Garden is looking for a motivated volunteer to organize our new education guide and volunteer training manual. The copy for the guide is written, the Tilth Children’s Garden teachers are available for consultation, and the Volunteers and Families at our garden want their hands on a shiny new booklet.

Tasks would include consultation with Children’s Garden staff, organization of content, and layout of the material in a software program compatible with Seattle Tilth’s computers. The qualified student/volunteer project leader is also invited to come up with ideas for funding the printing and publication of such a manual – ideas range from soliciting in-kind donations from printers to seeking sponsorship for the project to selling ads.

Qualifications:

Creativity, organization, ability to make and meet deadlines, ability to work creatively with Seattle Tilth education staff, proficiency in layout software compatible with our technology.

Helpful interests include:

Environmental education, gardening, adult education, editing, book design and graphic layout, interest in collaborating with experienced teachers to create an excellent resource for Seattle Tilth

Bradner Gardens Volunteer Opportunity

Position: Volunteer Gardener in the Master Gardener border

When: June- November

Description:Do you ever find yourself wondering what to do with your spare time? Have you fallen into a volunteerism rut? The Master Gardeners at Bradner Gardens might be able to breath new life into your extracurricular existence.

Master Gardeners are fun to work with! There’s no better way to form a lasting friendship and learn new and interesting gardening practices than to spend a few hours on a beautiful day weeding, pruning and primping our highly renown perennial border and children’s garden.

On the Saturday work parties Master Gardeners will also be stationed in the Bradner meeting room, reference material at their fingertips, aching to wax poetic on plant pestilence or identify that mystery plant you think you cannot live without... and get this... they can do it while you help out in the garden. Leave your issues in their hands in the morning and get results while you work. What could be more convenient?

No matter what your gardening experience, we’d love you to join us.

Come to one work party or participate in all of them!  The work parties are listed below.  If you’d like to be reminded of the following work parties or have any questions, contact joshuamedaris@comcast.net.
